And Put RS300X On A Jockey, Whad’ya Think?

“Well, that just may be the dumbest idea I’ve heard this week, year, maybe even decade… I’m in!”

Mike’s friend Joe is obsessed with heart rate monitors. He owns the entire range of Polar and often wears all 14 he owns at once – even the ladies colors. He just got the new RS300X and wants to test out the speed and distance and pace features.

Yes, the RS300X comes with GPS sensor features to measure speed, pace and distance. Joe wants to put it on a jockey because he reckons their stellar!

“Hey, Joe! We’re gunna need some sort of plan. I don’t think a jockey will wear your heart rate monitor – you’re just some random fan!”

“I’ll pay him $500.”

“Righto. Should be sorted then.”

What you should know about Joe, aside from him being the type of dude that pays a jockey $500 to wear one of his heart rate monitors, is his sole goal in life is to have the “perfect” heart rate – during exercise and resting. He likes to compete and test others to convince himself of his superiority.

Very, very strange, I know.

So Mike and Joe head to the race day RS300X in hand. And success! Jockey 1 is going to wear the monitor. Mike and Joe are ecstatic.

After the race Joe takes the monitor and thanks and pays the jockey. He then uploads the data to PolarPersonalTrainer.com via the FlowLink (to Mac or PC). He’s so excited as he starts to analyse all the jockey’s stats:

  • Average and max heart rate overall
  • Average and max heart rate each lap
  • Speed and pace
  • Total distance

Joe see’s the jockey’s vital signs are “better” (jockey be fitter) and proceeds to throw the computer at the wall.

“Joe, you’re one wild, weird dude!?” Mike says and then ponders why he continues to hang out with Joe.
