5 stars on Amazon but off only 1 customer review.

Cool Fact: Liz Dickinson, founder of MIO and mother of 3, created the first strapless heart rate monitor in 1999. Its Smart Touch Technology was the first to allow people to train the heart rate way without a chest strap. Kudos Liz!

Liz is a typical entrepreneur: She created something that she needed. The main motivation to creating MIO was to have the strapless heart rate monitor. She wanted to train knowing what heart rate zone she was in but did not want the chest strap. So the entire MIO brand product line works without a chest strap. Some models do have the option of chest strap but by no means is it necessary. MIO seems to offer each watch in a normal and petite version. Petite meaning smaller – ladies.

Looking at the MIO website all their monitors are unique looking. They definitely have a distinct style – as does Polar, Timex and Garmin. Whether you like it or not I commend them for not just copying the futuristic looking Polar or run of the mill Timex.

What Does The Sole Reviewer Have To Say On Amazon?

Not much.

Diamondhouse says, “great watch, I like the ease of use. I haven’t had it for long, so I’ll have to come back and write again.”

When you purchase this MIO you also gain access to what MIO calls “MY mio.” It is an online tracking system similar to polarpersonaltrainer.com or the like.

Mio Drive WatchfaceMy favorite feature is the 3500 calorie countdown (calorie goal setting) and the performance bars that indicate your progress. You can see in the photo to the right where the performance bars are.

I think many people would find this to work well. Goal setting and then tracking progress works very well for many people to lose weight. The bars also indicate effort level when you are checking heart rate.

MIO Are The Polar Of Strapless

So Polar has this epic brandname in the heart rate monitoring world because they invented the first one. Mio, for the same reason, are pretty top notch in the strapless side of the niche.

If you are looking for a strapless, stylish and fully feature packed heart rate monitor go for the MIO.

MIO was invented by a women and that fact definitely shines through in all their monitors. I think for this reason their watches are somewhat feminine looking. Judge for yourself – but being a guy, I  just get that vibe.

In the box:
